Review of It Comes at Night (2017) by Beachimpala — 09 Jun 2017
All these basic b**** expecting a big budget horror film were blindsided by this beautifully crafted and nuanced film. the terror in this film wasn't from a conventional monster rather a bigger and more psychological issue of distrust and paranoia.
this film is about the darkness in humans and at the peak of this movie this darkness is revealed. what is most impressive about this film is that it stays true to a story within a world and never uses the apocalypse for a spectacle.
I think people who didn't enjoy this were just looking for characteristics of a more conventional horror film and were severely disappointed. this is truly a gem and its uniqueness of execution and storytelling isolates it into a space that very few horror films occupy.
