Review of It Comes at Night (2017) by Tera G — 08 Jun 2017
It's not going to be for everyone.....I'll admit that up front. It is slow and at times boring and moves forward steadily and slowly. It's uncomfortable almost the entire time and all mysteries are not answered which can be either delightful or frustrating but in this case is sort of stunning. Here's the thing, it is also brilliant. It may not be the most explosive and it won't satiate action lovers, but it is so realistic and that's what makes it so uncomfortable. Good people in unthinkable circumstances. Who would you become? It's something I'll probably watch at least a couple times when it comes out on video to sort of sift through the clues and implications knowing the outcome, it's definitely one of those. It is not however a movie I will watch over and over again for the rest of my life.
And the scoring was fantastic. I don't know why this isn't better utilized in all movies, it seriously kept the tension up and toyed with my emotions throughout.
