Review of It Comes at Night (2017) by Bugger217 — 04 Sep 2017
Misleading marketing aside, this didn't click with me. All of the right pieces were in place, and the film goes for an atmosphere that I usually dig, but the story it told felt tired to me. I've seen it before, and I've seen its themes tackled in a bleak post-apocalypse before.
The only unique element the film really has, is that it almost aims to leave the audience in the dark. So, you wind up with a familiar story with potentially interesting plot threads that go absolutely nowhere.
The talent is there, and I can see how someone might appreciate it, but it didn't sit right with me.
