"It Comes at Night" features great acting and a haunting atmosphere but not much else. This is like the first half of a really good horror movie, that ends just when things start getting interesting.
The movie never seems to decide on what it wants to be. It points out a number of interesting threads, but never really pulls on any of them. It builds suspense by throughout the movie by broaching a number of interesting ideas but never really explores any of them deeply enough to deliver any kind of interesting or meaningful payoff.
