Review of It Came from Outer Space (1953) by Gordon C — 17 Feb 2008
As the story behind this film was written by Ray Bradbury, it's not too surprising that it's rather better than your run-of-the-mill monster flick. The film explores in part the desirability of looking past an initial aversion to the strange and unfamiliar, and being able to deal with it in a reasonable manner.
Nice that some questions about the plausibility of certain elements in the film are actually raised in the script, eg. "How could anything possibly survive an impact like that?" - "How could these aliens manage to take on human form?" We don't get the answers, but at least the film acknowledges that there are questions to be considered.
