Review of It Came from Outer Space (1953) by Al M — 25 Sep 2009
Decent enough 50s sci-fi horror film in which aliens produce duplicates of humans (without destroying the originals in this version). Perhaps I've just watched too many of these films lately, but It Came From Outer Space just seemed too close to Invaders from Mars, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, I Married a Monster from Outer Space, etc.
Still, I found the film provocative because the aliens did not come to invade but were merely trying to fix their ship and were using human bodies to help with this without freaking out the general populace.
Thus, the humans are cast in the role of belligerent, angry mob and the aliens maintain their position as beings who would have passed through in peace if it hadn't been for humankind's xenophobia.
