Review of It Came from Outer Space (1953) by Jeff Z — 30 Jul 2010
Love this kind of old sci-fi film. This one is better than most, directed by Jack Arnold (Creature From the Black Lagoon) based on a story by Ray Bradbury. Richard Carlson is in top form as the astronomer who has seen the alien ship crash land but nobody believes him, while Russell Johnson (Professor on "Gilligan's Island" gets to act stiffly on purpose. He's actually quite enjoyable. "Star Trek" fans will recognize Commodore Stocker from "The Deadly Years" as the town Sheriff and babe fans will recognize Barbara Hale and in almost a cameo part, Kathleen Hughes.
Would love to see this in the original 3-D sometime.
