Review of It (2017) by Thedoctor F — 30 Oct 2017
Great film. For what it's doing, It deserves the popularity to be a great film. Love the setting, characters, and the villain. Though there can be a few mistakes from the film, otherwise from that.
The movie is great, it tells its story in its energetic vision with characterization all fitting it in the same time. Pennywise, the character we have been waiting to see since 1990 one in Tim Curry's land.
But the new Pennywise has a very good personality and it's own backstory. It's also terrifying, charming, and dare I say it? Cool. He's like "Street Fighter" cool. Get it? Anyways, Bill Skarsgard defiantly hit it's mark as a terrifying image to kids and giving itself a creepy clown.
Now his charming voice in the first scene with Georgie is kinda dumb. First, he's too scary so if any kid finds him, they'll run the hell out of there! Second, he's charming voice sounds kinda murderous.
I mean we know why Georgie tried to join Pennywise in the mini-series but here, he's creepy. In the first film, Pennywise looked like any ordinary clown, keeping himself into a charming ol' lad.
Also, the haunted house was also a cool thing. In the mini-series, they didn't enter the haunted house. We just it and then it's forgotten in the rest of the film. In the haunted house is scary, it's like a puzzle to try and get out of there.
But in the puzzle creepy house has creepy stuff in it, like your fears. The balloons are also one thing I want to talk about. The balloons aren't scary, not to me they aren't. But they visualize you that the creature or something is going to scare you.
So once we see the balloon, we shiver down our spines. And also the balloons are red, fitting in Pennywise color and title color. The red balloons to kids also mean fear. Some kids are terrified by the red balloons because they think it's going to pop and something is going to terrify them.
And that was IT. LOVE THE MOVIE!!! The characters were great, the setting was great, the story was good, and it visualizes what you thought about the novel. It's a very awesome adaptation to the novel and I love it, love it, and love it! I am very excited for the next movie and also "We all float down here.
