I love the original "It" mini series with Tim Curry as Pennywise from the 1990s. It's cheesy and eerie but usually not scary. The 2017 version, while a bit creepier and with a much darker tone, still has that cheesy, over the top feel I'd expect. The language was definitely rougher than it needed to be but the kids were very well fleshed out and all had interesting stories to add. pennywise was all flavors of crazy, dark, twisted and even comical at times. I would also say this one, like the original, is not very scary but that's not necessarily a criticism. The scares here are literally made for kids. what I mean by that is, the monster/being whatever it is, heard its scares to only kids. He doesn't go after adults, so the tactics it uses are very over the top and childish. ultimately though, this is a story about how a group of outcast kids with tough family backgrounds find a way to come together to beat their circumstances and their fears, which is done really well.

All in all IT is not a perfect film by any means, but it did manage to keep me entertained in the right ways and the story of the kids is very well done. I'm not a horror movie person, this is the only exception for me really but it's primarily because of the kids and their stories. so it's definitely worth a watch if you're into this sort of thing, but if you absolutely don't like horror then I'd stay away or at the very least just use your own discretion.
