Review of It (2017) by Rachel A — 16 Sep 2017
I have been excited for this movie for months and was, unfortunately, pretty disappointed. But to start with the positive, the acting is super, the cinematography is cozy Americana, really great. So kudos to that! But there were a few key pieces of the movie that just didn't hit the mark.
First, the clown. While I am sure plenty of people found him terrifying, I got desensitized by him pretty quick. He was scary throughout which was a mistake, (even when talking to Georgie. No way any kid would be giggling with this guy), and Pennywise was constantly in the movie.
This is a huge reason why less would have been more. We shouldn't see Pennywise as much as we did and he should reveal a terrifying side at times rather than stay that way throughout the movie. Also, had a problem with the character of Bev.
She looked too old and was "too cool" to be believable that she would be a part of any Losers Club. Lastly, the cliche abandoned house lacked imagination and innovation.
