Review of It (2017) by S K — 18 Sep 2017
Now this is how you do a horror film. Comparisons are inevitable with the 1990 TV series with Tim Curry as the evil Pennywise, but what Bill Skarsgard does is make him more maniacal and threatening, I just wanted more scenes with him but when he is on screen he is terrifying! The young actors in their roles all exceed expectations but there isn't room for character development for all of them, there are a few that get sidelined which is a shame.
Another slight criticism I have is that in the series Pennywise played with the children a lot more and there wasn't much of that going on, although its hard to cram all that in into a 2 hour film.
I wouldn't say that its a scary film, yes there are a few jump scares but its more unsettling and creepy plus it doesn't help I viewed most of the Pennywise clips on YouTube, so stay away from that and be surprised.
Overall its a well made horror film and the sequel should definitely up the scare factor.
