Review of It (2017) by Brandon C — 10 Sep 2017
I agree with Joshua Rothkopf's review that the films shortcomings are mostly due to Kings original material, but with that said, you can expect a few corny moments between the characters' adaptation into a visual medium.
The shortcomings in this film are really the child actor's forced performances. Regardless, IT has a wonderful 'pop' bubblegum horror feel that is wonderful to watch and feels quite original to what has been seen before in the horror genre.
They made a few good decisions in taking out most of the book's visuals that wouldn't translate well on screen while pumping up the presence of the clown. In conclusion, if you can look past a few corny character moments between the child actors and enjoy the way the horror is presented, you will like this film.
