Review of It (2017) by Austin O — 02 Aug 2018
This movie was absolutely fantastic. Definitely the best Stephen King movie adaptation so far. Even The Shining pales in comparison to IT 2017. This movie manages to take a cliché story about children overcoming their fears while facing a demonic entity trying to kill them and flips it on its head.
Pennywise is the perfect villain being the best of both the goofy parts of clowns and the terror they can strike into the hearts of society. The kids aren't annoying and have personality traits that brilliantly bounce off of each other.
The only real weakness of this movie is that it tries to focus on so many different characters at once. In the end, this movie is hilarious, terrifying, and heartfelt. With horror getting worse again in the 2010s, it feels good to say that a second revival of horror was made.
I give IT 2017 a 9.87/10.
