Review of It (2017) by Gabriel B — 26 Jul 2018
I was disappointed in the under-playing of Mike Hanlon's character, and, surprisingly, the miniseries is actually a more accurate adaptation of the novel. That being said, the characters (apart from Mike) are better represented than they were in the 1990 version.
This R-rated film allows for some off the more dark, gritty and sometimes disgusting aspects of the novel. The acting, directing, special effects, cinematography and overall production value are also superior to the miniseries.
All things considered, if you threw this version and the Tim Curry version into a blender, you'd have a near-perfect adaptation of the novel.
