Review of Isn't She Great (2000) by David R — 15 Jul 2007
Ahh the haunting world of Jackie Susann. Most people would look at her, portrayed by the legend Bette Midler, as pathetic. She whined, complained and nearly killed herself all for fame and glory. But if you take the time to get yourself involved and invested in Jackie's early days you realize that she was a sincere woman who wanted nothing more than to be loved and adored for what she loved and adored.
After so many failed attempts at fame (stage, screen, movies) her husband Irving suggest writing a book. Write what she knows. However all Jackie knows is sex, pills, rejection and Hollywood-Hell... But then "All I know is tits.
.. Ass... and the truth... And nobody writes about that". Finally what comes is her masterpiece Valley of the Dolls. There's much more after her success, which really just rips into your heart.
The only fault of this movie is that it seems to end too quickly after the premiere of The Valley of the Dolls movie. Over all a good movie.
