Review of Isle of Dogs (2018) by Eddyp — 11 Oct 2018
Isle of Dogs was a fun movie to watch, simply because of how Wes Anderson made the movie interesting to watch, mostly through the way of how the story flowed. The movie's unique plot, combined with it's (sometimes dark) humor succeeded in keeping me engaged and entertained.
One important thing to note about the movie is that Wes Anderson decided not to add subtitles to the characters who spoke Japanese. I think that this was because he wanted the audience to think. Wes Anderson wanted the audience to have their own interpretation of the film.
Another reason may be that he possibly wanted the audience to feel like dogs, they can't understand human speech. This puts the viewer in the dog's shoes, and can help understand why despite the communication barrier, dogs are still considered man's best friend.
