Review of Isle of Dogs (2018) by Tor M — 02 Oct 2018

The symmetry master is back with his second stop-motion picture. There's no foxes here, but there are dogs. Plenty of them. They are stuck on an island of trash but as a kid, Atari, is visiting it to save his lost dog, he is joining the misson to get things straight again and fight with the Japanise anti-dog together with the dogs.

I dig the story, but I like the animation even better. It's fun to think of all the symmetry while watching it, it's making it impossible to miss and really impressive. There are several known voices lent here. Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Bryan Cranston, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson and Yoko Ono to meniton a few. Many of them known co-workers of Wes. The animation is fantastic and so are the music and color usage. There's plenty of fun here and some statement.

Plenty of cool trivia as per usal for an Anderson flick. Like colorblind-friendly colors when scenes are done from the dog's perspective and the fact that the hair is made out of alpaca wool. Enjoyable and fun, pretty and snappy.
