Review of Is It Just Me? (2010) by Brian M — 10 Jan 2011
I'm kind of puzzled. Was this movie supposed to be funny?
This movie started out fairly enjoyable. It started out dealing with a sweet story about a writer who seems to think that no man is interested in him until he meets someone on line, and begins long phone conversations with him, and discovers that it is someone he has been admiring. And, you think, this could get interesting. Well, it turns out that the man he admires thinks he is someone else, and that someone is the writer's stud room-mate.
Instead of telling him the truth, the writer decides to let his online crush believe that the room-mate is him, and they sort of switch identities as part of a challenge to see if true love will win over brawn. What follows is a predictable story of missed chances at making things right, and making mistakes without using your tiny little brain first.
I found the whole idea of the switched identities annoying. Mainly because there was scene after scene of where things could have been made right, and it just dragged on and on.
If I were there, I would have gave the writer a buggs bunny slapping! Snap out of it, and tell him already! Gees!
If it wasn't for the older room-mate of the cowboy, I think I would have not liked this movie at all. But, it did have some nice moments. But, a lot of it was very predictable, including the end of the film. I didn't give it a rotten review based on performance. The acting was decent, and the roles were likeable. But, the story just wasn't that great.
