This movie is not for the faint at heart. the horrific story unfolds backwards from a brutal, punitive climax. driven by revenge over the savage rape of his girlfriend (the stunning monica bellucci), marcus (vincent cassel) decends into maddness.
the over-the-top scenes of violence and sexuality provoke controversy, but gaspar noe's aesthetic style crafts an artful, visually engrossing piece...albeit nauseating. the camera work had me dizzy and eager to be let off the ride.
