Review of Irreversible (2002) by Ruhanul I — 07 Jan 2010
Unbelievably brutal, nihilistic, and throroughly depressing; but also one of the best, most well-made films I have ever seen. Presents a very pessimistic outlook on life and humanity whose images and themes are inifinitely more supported than its "life is a miracle" counterparts.
The controversial rape scene is intense, sadistic, and unforgettable; but it is also handled amd depicted in a very mature and responsible manner. Definitely recommended for the more open-minded, existentialist viewers out there.
Everyone else should stay far, far, FAR away from this one.
