Review of Irreversible (2002) by Jeremy C — 02 Apr 2011
¨In conceptual art, the concept is more important than the art itself¨ This movie is hard to watch, and if you start seeing it youll probably stop and think: what the crap am I watching!? but hey! like I said, its the concept that matters, from the title to the story to the idea that actions are irreversible, all this together is conceptual. So my advice to you is to keep watching it, stick to it till the end and you wont be dissapointed.
The 1st third of the movie SUCKS! (cinemawisely) but as the picture goes on every thing changes. This is because the story is told backwards (ala Memento), and by that it goes from being visualy brutaly grotesque to emotionally meaningful.
I know any big boy can handle the crude violence in Irreversible, and I know it wrenches, but is the irony that will tear your insides into peaces!
