Review of Irreversible (2002) by Pekky M — 03 Sep 2011
Fascinating film which starts with the brutal revenge killing of a man at a gay bar and then backtracks to show the events leading up to this extreme act of violence. The film consists of a series of long, single take, tracking shots arranged in reverse chronological order.
The camera work is beautiful and engaging, always floating around the action, never stopping for a moment, except to focus on the violence when it occurs.
