Review of Irreversible (2002) by Mark S — 08 Dec 2011
Extremely brutal at moments, the whole film sets up a depressing hopelessness from the get go. What makes the movie unique is that it plays the revenge flick backwards and leaves the audience on this artificial high note. Through this the movie tries a little too hard at times to be a downer building up unnecessary foreshadowing in the later half, And the movie does its best to make the 10 minute rape scene as slow and uncomfortable as possible. However the cinematography is beautiful changing as the emotions of the film changes .
Overall: interesting, unique and definitely not for everyone.
