Review of Irreversible (2002) by Chris P — 05 Apr 2012

This was a stunningly shocking film. A lot of people have complained that the portrayal of gay people in it is homophobic. But frankly I think this is bullshit. It isn't reflecting all homosexuals, merely highlights the fact that contrary to the medias portrayal, Not all gay people are nice and friendly, some of them are just as scummy as straight people can be.

Anyway that aside, I have never seen a film that so clearly portrays the consequences of going off half cocked looking for revenge. It deserves 5 stars just for originality and quality of directing. It was hard to watch, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to my granny, but if ever a film was made that shows the gritty reality of violence, as opposed to hollywoods candy coated version, irrà (C)versible is the one.
