Review of Irreversible (2002) by Douglas Edward C — 17 May 2009
I hated this movie! Not because of the story line or the acting or the fact that the story was told backwards ? that I liked. What I hated was the hand held camera that was CONSTANTLY spinning and turning upside-down and always at odd angles.
I was nauseated within the first 15 seconds. Which by the way, the first five to ten minutes of the movie was nothing but looking at spinning and turning and upside-down walls in an alley ? what the heck was that all about ? it had nothing to do with the movie and was pointless.
And, if you are bold enough to show the rape scene, show what?s going on in the club. I remained nauseated for hours after the movie was over. Even the soundtrack had music that in itself was nauseating which made things even worse.
My head hurt, I had a headache and I was angry. I?ll never watch a movie by this director ever again. Someone please send him back to film school.
