A uniquely told story, presented in reverse order - similar to Memento, in fact it starts with the ending credits rolling backwards. While it definitely works here, I'm not entirely sure this was the best way to tell it.

It does its job though, as after seeing a shocking ending, it leaves you gasping to find out how it ended up that way (and it gets worse as the story progresses... or should I say regresses?). This is a truly shocking story, and in fact the director's main goal was to shock the audience, which he openly admitted.

While it works perfectly (I felt disturbed and disgusted after seeing the movie), it doesn't seem to achieve much else. The director masterfully presses all the right buttons to achieve the desired effect.

But aside from that, the story is rather shallow if you remove the shock factor and tell it in chronological order. But that would have been a different movie.
