Review of Irreversible (2002) by Peter G — 25 Jan 2010
This was one of the few movies I have ever watched and been completely speechless once it was over. It was very brutal and very truthful to the tragedy of rape. I couldn't bring myself to watch that entire scene and was in tears by the end of it.
This movie goes beyond showing the talent that Monica is. She is an amazing actress and had a fantastic supporting cast to work with in this movie. I loved how the story was told backwards and the art of the shots were beautiful.
The bedroom scene at their apartment was incredibly beautiful and was the best part of the film. It explained the entire relationship of Alex and Marcus. And it took me back to the scene where Marcus sees her being taken to the hospital which made if so terribly sad.
This was a bold movie to make about a very difficult situation that people don't like to talk about. It was very disturbing in parts but necessary. I'm not sure a better movie can be made about this and be so honest.
