Review of Irrational Man (2015) by Hotfromcauldron — 19 Jul 2015
It’s a puzzlement how a matter of life or death can become an interminable bore weighing in at 90 minutes. Woody’s masterbatory pontification on being alive is a short essay at best. A disillusioned alcoholic professor beds both his students and married co-workers without any recourse.
Dueling voice-overs , reiterate a droning dialogue of the obvious- to all but the characters. Irrational Man quickly turns irritating being miscast - Hollywood please let Emma Stone graduate already! - lacking Allen's acerbic wit and super score.
Even as a die-hard fan - sitting through this- forced me to confront my own existential horror.
