Review of Irrational Man (2015) by Christian M — 04 Jan 2016
This film had the same unique cool thriller direction that Allen used in Match Point. A light and lively jazz trio with Ramsey Lewis keeps the morose dread of committing a perfect murder at a great distance and even when it comes to fruition it seems passe.
Great confluence of waxing philosophical with girls in and out of lust and oft over-used cliches of love as a killer blossoms unsuspectingly in their midst.. Allen is a master of twists which he provides with the dead pan calm he is most appreciated for.
I thought the film was excellent in its portrayal of the small college world, its dramas, scandals, gossip, and intrigue with just three main characters. A very enjoyable yarn.
