Review of Irrational Man (2015) by Donald W — 26 Feb 2018
#WoodyAllenRetro Podcast Project.
With a great initial story idea and good cast what let's this down is a series of small inconstancies that just build up to make this quite the uneven and mishandled narrative - the overall feel is more like a light romantic comedy only to delve into a murder plot, a over-smitten college student and some very forced plot connivence to bring things to a poorly executed rehash of things done before ALOT BETTER. This whole university setting feels more like a 1980's campus than a post millennium one - this just does not work... and it's a shame too as the potential for another good murder quandary was in range but this is in way any fault of the actors, the script missed some real biting ideals that were clear in sight.. or so we thought :(.
