Review of Irrational Man (2015) by Fritz B — 04 Aug 2015
The Woodman revisits his "Crime and Punishment" theme with this tale of a college student (Emma Stone) who falls for her new philosophy professor, (Joaquin Phoenix) who, though brilliant has become defeated by life - until he dreams up the "perfect murder.
" More serious than comedic but there are still laughs, especially from Parker Posey who is fab as a fellow faculty member who as falls for Phoenix. While not Woody's best - still worth a look if you are a fan.
Shot in Rhode Island -and looks beautiful! Also, Ms. Stone fairs much better in this contemporary piece than in Allen's last period flick.
