Review of Ironweed (1987) by Caleb N — 30 Mar 2008
A movie that gets consistently tanked and ignored because of it's subject matter. based on one of the books in a trilogy by william kennedy, ironweed tells the story of frances phelan, veteran pro ball player, seasoned drunk and undisputed hardcase.
frances returns to albany new york on halloween 1938 after being on the streets of america and estranged from his loved ones for decades. he is compelled by haunting memories of a world that he left behind to visit his family and try to make peace with a tragedy that has no resolution.
