Review of Ironclad (2011) by Peter A — 25 Nov 2011
King John signs the Magna Carta to give the barons a fair shout, then goes about brutally repressing them. Paul Giamatti is the only good thing about this mess of a movie. Boring and repetitive, there is no let up on the gore and hyper violence but in the end it becomes casual as limbs are hacked off every five minutes.
The siege of Rochester is just one battle after another with very little character development in between. Jacobi and Dance phone in their performances and the script and direction are woefully bereft of orginality.
Was good to see Brian Cox get splattered on the walls though!
