The films detailed recreation is amazing to watch but as a story the film is all over the place. The film is full of great actors but they are not given much character development or back up from the director.
The director has the grim eye and doesn't hide the film from the gore. The film just becomes to much after a while and the poor editing is frustrating. The films budget gets in the way and the direction chooses to ignore this issue. Knowing when to cut away is your job but sadly this isn't the case. If you enjoy these old fashioned films then you'll discover something of interest, this really could of been something special.
