Proof that an awesome idea doesn't always result in a good film...

Yeah it's fun in parts, some of the space battles look pretty amazing considering, the CG sets look suitably dark and mechanical and there are a few genuine giggles..

BUT! Most of the jokes fall flat, clumsy plotting and a clunky, unneccesary middle section somehow make it feel like it's an hour too long (and at only 1hr 20 total length that's going some!), the satire based around the US president sending a black man to outer space is so clumsy it feels like it belongs in a carry on film.. And the presidents stylist/publicist/whatever the hell she is has to go on the most annoying characters of all time list... You may think I'm being too harsh on a silly B movie, but when you find yourself bored half way through, you know it ain't working...
