Review of Iron Sky (2012) by Sara R — 19 Oct 2012
What if in the closing months of World War II, the Nazis had escaped to the dark side of the moon where they would hide out until the year 2018, only to return with the plan of taking over the earth. This is exactly the question that Iron Sky attempts to tackle. We also have a glimpse of what life would be like with Sarah Palin as President. OK, so the character isn't Palin but obviously based upon her.
The movie itself is honestly really good. The plot is a fun one and it doesn't come off as bad as some may think that it would. The foreign writers told a story that may be seen as a jab at America as they stereotyped us through out, but in the end it was all fun. This is not a pro-Nazi movie in any way either, and really deals with real to live politics and how the nations act, but in a fun way.
This movie is one part dark humor, one part sci-fi, and 100% pure awesomeness. The CGI was hit and miss. it was either extremely good for their budget, or on par with a SyFy channel flick. But it was all good, as the cheesy lines that periodically popped up made me chuckle. I'm unsure how to really describe this other than if you enjoy movies like the original Starship Troopers or even Spaceballs, you will totally get and enjoy this movie. It even fits in for those who like to analyze how movies reflect today's society and can actually make you think.
I suggest everyone see this movie. it's great!
