Review of Iron Man 3 (2013) by Tyler G — 07 May 2015
"Iron Man 3" might be the best of the Iron Man movies. The first two are fun, but they are sort of average superhero movies with a really charismatic and funny leading man. Downey, Jr. is the main draw if the movies.
Sure the CGI and action are well done, but that is a dime a dozen in this day and age, and what the Iron Man movies apart was that Tony Stark was so much fun to watch. Beyond that the movies just had villains that were bad guys in their own Iron Man suit.
Even Rourke's cool whip character in 2 devolved into that. Luckily this film avoids that, gives Tony Stark some character flaws that build on from "The Avengers", and does a good job all around.
Paltrow is still annoying and boring, but the movie overcomes her time and time again. After seeing "Man of Steel", it was great to see a superhero movie that was both dramatic meat and had good action, as well as a well-balanced sense of humor.
..not to mention a hero that actually saves people.
