Review of Iron Man 3 (2013) by Jibran K — 23 Nov 2014
Iron man 3 is the third installemnt in the Marvel Iron man trilogy and this time Tony Stark is facing the Mandarine is known to be the Iron man arch enemy in the comic books and the mandarine comes into the world and takes on the world by cause chaos in different locations across the United States and during one of the attack, Hapy Hogan Star's bodyguard is fatally hurt and after this iron man challenges The Mandarine however things do not go well and Iron Man fails to prevail and his home is attacked. The story goes on with Stark trying to come back as the world thinks of him dead.
The movie starts well with a flashback and establishes the presentation of some charaters, mostly of Guy Pearce (Aldrich Killian) a young scientist who approaches Tony Stark but is quickly rejected. and as the story progresses the plot quickly developes and becomes clear on which path does the movie takes.
The themes in the movie are similar to another superhero film that was release last year, The Dark Knight Rises. The film take on a dark tone of reality and the idea of what a superhero is and the legends that follows the legacy are portrayed about the same way however Iron Man is suppose to be a more fun and not a dark tone of the world where heroes are left broken halfway throug the movie, this is Marvel not DC Universe. but the biggest disappointment comes from the idea of the Mndarine and how the director Shane Black and co wrier Drew Pearce decided to put a twist in to the character can be twken in wo ways, some people might like the twist and fan base might not be amused by how the tdirector decided to turn The Mandarine into a joke, though Dir Ben Kingley gives a great performance as " The Mandarine" I remember sitting and asking myself " Is this for real or is there a second part after this" as the movi reaches the climax and the TRUTH is exposed.
The actions scenes in the movie are well edited with beautiful visual effects which was the only thing that seemed to have kept me interested in the movie. the plot was not as effective as the first Iron Man especially that The Mandarine had been the source of trouble since the first one, but whenever he is presented to the world; he does most of the damage within the first half of the movie and the rest of the movies is about Tony stark putting back together of his armor suit and being turn into a side kick as War Machine now know as Iron Patriot doing most of the work.
Before seeing this film I had many expectations on how is movies would turn out, I came out less satisfied than when I saw the first one but more enterain than after seeing the second one. I like the ending which does remind me of the iead of how The Dark trilogy was concluded. With more disappointment than satisfaction, Iron Man 3 was not the best way to kick off the summer but I rather say Oblivon was a better way to kick the Summer season.
Score: 6.8/ 10.
