Review of Iron Man 3 (2013) by Babs S — 23 Nov 2018
One of the best films Marvel has released! From its surprisingly accurate portrayal of PTSD and anxiety, to it's wonderfully convoluted plot, and Ty Simpkins' stellar performance as Harley Keener, this film almost steals l 5 stars. The only things that hurt this film is Pepper Potts' inability to empathize with Tony, and the unrealistic, speedy resolution in which Tony somehow overcomes much of his trauma with a snap of his fingers. It undermines much of the complex character development, which is a shame, because Marvel tends to gloss over character development in favor of action much of the time. Overall, a wonderful movie that teaches people that it's okay to struggle, as even.
Heroic genius billionaire playboy philanthropists do. Robert Downey, Jr., Don Cheedle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ty Simpkins, Guy Pearce, and Ben Kingsley all performed amazingly in this gem of a superhero film.
