Review of Iron Man (2008) by Zachary N — 28 Aug 2014
Like Raimi's Spider-Man movies, this origin story for Iron Man does what most superhero stories don't anymore, take some aspects seriously and follow through. We have a terrific character arc for Tony Stark, bolstered by Downey Jr.
's impeccably perfect casting for the role, a villain that matters to his change, and an ending encapsulating the journey the audience just witnessed. It is not simply Marvel fanservice but an elegant balanced exercise of artistic experimentation with source material; something rare altogether but even rarer, done right.
