Review of Iron Man (2008) by Stewart H — 12 Oct 2013
Iron Man is such a good movie, and a solid example of a film that uses CGI effects as a tool to tell a great story. Quite often it's sadly the other way round. This production is patient, and takes its time setting up credible characters the audience can root for.
Robert Downey Jr plays Tony Stark to perfection as the billionaire weapons inventor, who learns to use his knowledge and resources for good. The technology on display is fantastic and yet believable. This again, is due to the patient build up.
We see the technology evolve, as Tony refines his ideas, and performs multiple tests. Iron Man also provides a really nice balance of drama, effects, character and humor. It's pretty much the perfect summer blockbuster.
