Review of Iron Man 2 (2010) by Seth S — 22 Jul 2013
Iron Man 2 is a step back from Iron Man. It is not as funny, the action not as good, and the story not as interesting. But it is only slightly less good in there categories.
Jon Favreau and Justin Theroux do make a entertaining movie, but it all seems just a bit more popcorn-y. The villain is a more villainous, Stark is more...well Stark, and Scarlett Johansson is thrown in to bide her time til the Avengers, and to look hot (and she does. ;).
The story once again gives us Tony, and hes dying. It also gives us Ivan, and hes pissed. These two forces eventually do collide, and the fireworks ensue.
Robert Downey Jr. once again owns the movie. Nobody can compare, but Sam Rockwell gives it his best shot as a wimpy weapons manufacturer! Gwyneth Paltrow returns and does well as Pepper. Mickey Rourke scowls and broods and looks mean the whole movie, to good effect. Scarlett Johansson doesn't have much to do, but she looks good doing it. And lastly Don Cheadle takes over for Terrence Howard. He may be a better actor, but I miss Howard's personality.
Overall this is a very entertaining summer movie, not on par with Iron Man, but fun none the less.
"Because I'm your nuclear deterrent. It's working. We're safe. America is secure. You want my property? You can't have it. But I did you a big favor. I've successfully privatized world peace." 8/10.
