Review of Iron Man 2 (2010) by Kyle C — 30 Jul 2014
This film had more than I have ever seen in a Marvel film. But there were a few downsides to it. The noble additions of Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard as James Rhodes/War Machine were amazing.
The only downside on this entry of the Marvel Universe was that the villains had no clear goal. Sure Mickey Rourke wanted revenge on Tony (the usual villain revenge on the hero thing) with support from Sam Rockwell.
But the villains needed a bit more depth to their schemes. But the film had some intense yet epic action sequences that blew my mind at Monaco and a climax at the Stark Expo and still solid performances by Downey, Paltrow and Jackson as Nick Fury.
Apart from the villain downside, this movie is still a solid entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. I loved it but I didn't actually 'hate' it.
