Review of Iron Man 2 (2010) by Jollyrogeromni — 16 Jul 2011
I usually hate recast sequels. It's just the principal of continuity. Whether it be The Mummy 3 or the Matrix sequels I hate to see actors get yanked in favor of other actors or replacement characters.
Sometimes it can work. Iron Man 2 isn't made better by the inclusion of Don Cheadle, but it doesn't suffer either. Cheadle creates his own take on Rhodes/War Machine. There are few actors that can step into a role they didn't originate and not screw it up.
I consider IM2 one of the pleasing exceptions of recasting. Kudos.
