Review of Irma la Douce (1963) by Red L — 29 Apr 2008
I remember seeing this one after midnight on a New Year's Eve when I was a lad. Shirley, I mean surely, it convinced me of the impossibility of satisfying that special someone, where work is highly disreputable.
Maybe it was just the illusion of Paris in a Billy Wilder universe. True, it's hardly representative of anything, but I suppose the picture painted an eternity working for something one would never get.
Did I take that too much to heart? Ah yes, my introduction to existentialism. Oh well, it was still a delightful dream.
