Review of Iraq in Fragments (2006) by Bassam K — 22 Sep 2007
This is the best documentary so far about Iraq post-2003 This film has brought a well-deserved Oscar nomination for its producers James Longley and John Sinno in 2007. Longley, a very artistic director/filmmaker, teamed with John Sinno to produce their "chef d'oeuvre" about the three main religious and ethnic groups that form Iraq (Sunni Arabs, Shia Arabs, and Sunni Kurds).
The director focused on one person or family from each group (following them for more than a year) to portray the group's struggle in post-Saddam Iraq. The quality of the final cut has benefited from the work of many people in Seattle, like Basil Shadid and others.
