Review of Ip Man 3 (2015) by Movie K — 03 Feb 2016

I will say this is unnecessary sequel. The fights are less impressive and exciting now. Opening part is where "Bruce Lee" want to learn from Donnie Yen but was kind of rejected. Patrick Tam a small local gangster who works for property boss Mike Tyson, bully the local school to evict.

Donnie and his students become security forces to drive them out. Kent Cheng is a cop who want to help but his Caucasian superior is in cahoot with Mike and order him to stay out of the case. Lynn Hung is angry of Donnie staying out every night to guard the school and she has cancer.

A ricksaw puller Zhang Jin whose son is classmate of Donnie son also know Wing Chun and fights in underground ring own by Patrick to earn money. Leung Ka-Yan is the master of Patrick before he left and he is angry why he became such a gangster.

Patrick hire Zhang to cripple Leung. Patrick call Donnie in hospital to lure him away and the gang attack the school. His son was abducted and Donnie kneel down. Zhang came and freely get his son back.

Later he change his mind and fight them. Donnie is relieve and fights back as well. Kent say the problem will not solve unless he find Mike. Donnie fight him in his office and Mike dare him in 3 minutes he is not down he will not disturb the school.

Both of them fight to a draw when time is up, not before both side have already launch and pause their final blow. This part is a let down as Mike prove to be a equal opponent. Lynn tell Donnie about the cancer and he spend all time with her.

Zhang open his own Wing Chun school and say Donnie king fu is not pure form. Donnie also didn't turn up his challenge and was dancing with Lynn where "Bruce Lee" is the teacher. Both decide to learn from each other and Donnie take him as disciple.

Lynn fainted halfway. She ask Donnie if he will fight has she not got ill and he nodded. So they go fight Zhang in close door. They were evenly match but Donnie win. Zhang smash his signboard and admit defeat.
