Incredibly high production values. also incredibly one-sided feeling of chinese nationalistic anti-japanese propaganda. yes, I recognize that the japanese may have been quite brutal to the chinese in WWII, but in this film they're practically caricatured to the heartless, demonic level that nazis were in western cinema back in the 80s.
some good action sequences and shot very well, but not much more than that.
