Review of Invisible Waves (2006) by John B — 20 Feb 2008
Hynoptic blend of pulp noir and arthouse introspection courtesy of Last Life in the Universe team. The theme of guilt runs through the deceptively meandering narrative as an amateur assassin makes a slow escape from Hong Kong, encountering characters who are both mysterious and cryptic, and who seem to assist and threaten in equal measure.
Sublime lensing from Chris Doyle and a controlled central performance from Tabanobu Asano make this a must-see for enthusiasts of world cinema.
