Review of Invincible (2006) by Ace5 — 25 Dec 2006
I had really high expectations for this movie. When I saw the reviews some people gave this movie, I just thought they didn't understand football movies and what it means to be on a team. I noticed that the movie tried to play off of the rocky theme, of an underdog from philadelphia who gets his dream shot and comes through in the end.
Invincable really tries to emulate the first rocky movie, but it just doesn't grab you and get you emotionally envolved as that movie, or any of the other football movies in the past did. I felt like there was alot of the story missing, and they cut it short with no real resolution at the end.
When I watch a movie about football I want it to be about football. I know that Vince Papale had personal problems in his life, but the director failed to truely make me feel the emotion that went along with it.
This movie stands as the worst football/underdog movie ever made in my book. I think Walt Disney would turn over in his grave if he found out about this movie having his name on it...
